MI Motorcycle No Fault laws are different than those covering cars. Michigan motorcyclists are not required to have personal injury protection although it is a really good idea to have it.

Michigan Motorcycle Accidents

If you were involved in a Michigan motorcycle accident, you should note that the law covering motorcycle accidents differs from the law covering car and truck accidents. Owners or drivers of motorcycles are only required to have insurance to cover damage to property and injury or death of the others involved in the accident. Motorcyclists are not required to have personal injury protection.

If a motorcyclist opts to obtain personal injury protection benefits under his insurance plan, the Michigan No-Fault law applies. Mopeds and off-road vehicles are not considered motorcycles for purposes of Michigan auto law. The law covering Michigan motorcycle accidents can be complicated, so it is best to contact an attorney experienced in Michigan auto law if you have been involved in a Michigan motorcycle accident.
