Michigan truck operators are required to have injury coverage, but accidents involving semi-trucks or tractors may present complications. If you are in a Michigan truck accident be sure to contact a lawyer.

Michigan Truck Accidents

Under Michigan law, trucks are considered motor vehicles, and are therefore treated much the same as cars. Trailers are considered motor vehicles under Michigan auto law, but tractors or other farm equipment are not considered motor vehicles because they are not subject to the same state registration requirements as are cars, trucks and motorcycles.

If you own and operate a truck, you are required to have personal injury protection insurance, property damage coverage, and residual liability coverage. If you are in a Michigan truck accident, you should follow the same procedures as recommended for any motor vehicle accident. However, if you are involved in an accident with a semi-truck or truck owned or operated by a trucking company, you should contact an attorney to assist with the likely complicated nature of dealing with the trucking company’s insurer.
